Known for their creative breakfast menu sprinkled with American-inspired options the French Toast is certainly an indulgent treat. And what a brilliant call to put ice cream with French Toast – it’s really just frozen custard anyway isn’t it? Featuring two thick slices of brioche French toast sandwiching a creamy lemon and vanilla ice cream and served with roasted peaches, crack crumble (we need that crumble recipe!!) and peach tea syrup – it is an incredible dish. Every element is perfectly balanced and complements the fluffy French Toast. A perfect treat for those with a sweet tooth and a love for creative breakfast ideas.

Gemini Cafe – Perth CBD

One of the best French Toast in Perth is the Teddy Bears Picnic from Gemini Cafe.

Quirky. Creative. Delicious – all we can say is Wow! Having eyed off Gemini Cafe on St Georges Terrace, in the Perth CBD for some time, we were excited to finally try some of their delicious creations. With a creative take on French Toast that features an iced chocolate teddy bear, crispy bacon, seasonal fruit, caramalised banana, nutella, fairy floss and ice cream you’ll be on a sugar high for days. But actually, it was a really delicious version that we thoroughly enjoyed. Plus this cafe is serving up some amazing savoury lunch items and creative drinks like the affogato bubble bathtub, avolatte (yes, a latte in an avocado), or beetroot latte served in an edible cup!

Roasting Warehouse – South Fremantle

South Freo is known for its charm, beautiful beaches, and scenic walks, and one of our favourite cafés along South Terrace is the Roasting Warehouse. This place oozes industrial charm, has plenty of alfresco seating, and serves the most delicious brunch that will make your taste buds jump for joy! Their Bruléé Brioche French Toast is served with toasted oats, blueberry cream cheese, caramelised banana, milk crumb, strawberries and Persian fairy floss. The fluffy toast is sweet and caramelised on the outside, soft on the inside and definitely, a must-try dish!

Chubby Boy – Inglewood

Selection of the shokupan french toast at Chubby Boy in Inglewood Perth

Now, whilst this isn’t officially French Toast, we reckon that Shokupan is pretty close and just as moreish. You can find this unique Japanese traditional toast in the pumping Inglewood restaurant strip of Perth at Chubby Boy, a hole-in-the-wall cafe serving up epic slabs of thick and light Shokupan slathered in luscious toppings. With a menu full of delicious sweet and savoury toast options, the Creme Brûlée and Bacon Shokupan was our favourite, with its salty and sweet flavours. If you live in Perth, Chubby Boy is worth a visit for its gorgeous aesthetic and LEGIT Japanese milk bread.

Little Donkey Corner – Tuart Hill

One of the best french toast in Perth from Little Donkey Corner

Nestled in the suburban Tuart Hill in northern Perth, Little Donkey Corner is a must-visit spot for those seeking a cosy, laid-back atmosphere and mouth-watering food. Their French toast creation is a modern take on the classic. Featuring two slices of crispy fried bread served in a shallow pool of taro custard and topped with milk-crumbs, berry compote and pistachios. It’s finished off with a whimsical topping of fairy floss. While this dish is undeniably sweet and indulgent, the flavours are perfectly balanced, creating a dish that won’t leave you with a sugar overload.
