Here are a few of our favourite cafes serving up the Best French Toast in Perth:
French Toast Ice-Cream Sandwich – Soho Lane (Mount Lawley)
Tucked in the back streets of Mt Lawley, Soho Lane has a cool and stylish NYC vibe. Known for their creative breakfast menu sprinkled with American-inspired options the French Toast is certainly an indulgent treat. And what a brilliant call to put ice cream with French Toast – it’s really just frozen custard anyway isn’t it? Featuring two thick slices of brioche French toast sandwiching a creamy lemon and vanilla ice cream and served with roasted peaches, crack crumble (we need that crumble recipe!!) and peach tea syrup – it is an incredible dish. Every element is perfectly balanced and complements the fluffy French Toast. A perfect treat for those with a sweet tooth and a love for creative breakfast ideas.
Cinnamon Doughnut French Toast – Hylin (West Leederville)
This cute neighbourhood cafe in West Leederville, has a casual and funky vibe, with beautiful shady outdoor seating, comfy indoor tables, great coffee and mouth-watering eats. Their current French Toast offering (Autumn 2023) is one you really need to try!! With two thick slices of brioche French toast, baby poached pears, sticky toffee sauce, strawberries, whipped cream and coconut Biscoff crumb it’s a delicious dish that is perfect for the cooler autumn weather.
Brulee Brioche French Toast – Roasting Warehouse (South Fremantle)
South Freo is known for its charm, beautiful beaches, and scenic walks, and one of our favourite cafés along South Terrace is the Roasting Warehouse. This place oozes industrial charm, has plenty of alfresco seating, and serves the most delicious brunch that will make your taste buds jump for joy! Their Bruléé Brioche French Toast is served with toasted oats, blueberry cream cheese, caramelised banana, milk crumb, strawberries and Persian fairy floss. The fluffy toast is sweet and caramelised on the outside, soft on the inside and definitely, a must-try dish!
French Toast – The Royal (East Perth)
Known for great food, top drinks and a wonderful outlook over Claisebrook Cove, The Royal on the waterfront in East Perth is a popular spot for locals and regulars (particularly pre and post-events at nearby Optus Stadium). And now, you can even enjoy a bottomless brunch every Saturday. With a Bloody Mary on arrival, 2 hours of bottomless house wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverages, and a serve of their yummy brioche French Toast with chocolate, salted caramel, granola crunch and pistachio sorbet – brunch doesn’t get any better than this!
Brioche French Toast – Servo (Leederville)
Located in Leederville, Servo is a gem where you can dine ‘yard bar’ style for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays! With alfresco tables or open-air indoor dining available their breakfast menu offers one of the best French toast dishes in Perth. Their Brioche French Toast is served with roasted peaches, macadamia, whipped ricotta and burnt honey. YUM!! Need we say more? Plus, you can get a free flow of cocktails, smoothies, juices or mocktails with your choice of main if desired.
Creme Brulee & Bacon Shokupan – Chubby Boy (Inglewood)
Now, whilst this isn’t officially French Toast, we reckon that Shokupan is pretty close and just as moreish. You can find this unique Japanese traditional toast in the pumping Inglewood restaurant strip of Perth at Chubby Boy, a hole-in-the-wall cafe serving up epic slabs of thick and light Shokupan slathered in luscious toppings. With a menu full of delicious sweet and savoury toast options, the Creme Brûlée and Bacon Shokupan was our favourite, with its salty and sweet flavours. If you live in Perth, Chubby Boy is worth a visit for its gorgeous aesthetic and LEGIT Japanese milk bread.
French Toast – Little Donkey Corner (Tuart Hill)
Nestled in the suburban Tuart Hill in northern Perth, Little Donkey Corner is a must-visit spot for those seeking a cozy, laid-back atmosphere and mouth-watering food. Their French toast creation is a modern take on the classic. Featuring two slices of crispy fried bread served in a shallow pool of taro custard and topped with milk-crumbs, berry compote and pistachios. It’s finished off with a whimsical topping of fairy floss. While this dish is undeniably sweet and indulgent, the flavours are perfectly balanced, creating a dish that won’t leave you with a sugar overload. It’s a fantastic creative twist on a brunch classic.
